Dr Clark Quinn (USA) 12.35 - 1.30 pm

"The mobile academy: learning on the go"

Friday 27th May, 2011 Lecture Theatre 20.2

Mobile devices are increasingly ubiquitous, but how do we take advantage of them for our organisational needs? To truly capitalise on mobile opportunities, you need to think in new ways. In this session, we will explore the unique capabilities of mobile devices, consider how we can use those capabilities to our benefit, and think through how we pragmatically take advantage of these capabilities. The opportunities are out there, but we can't get there with the same thinking we've used for non-mobile solutions. Come and see how to mobilise your learning.

Prof Sandra Wills (AUS) 1:35 - 2.30 pm

"The power of role-based e-learning"

1:35 - 2.30 pm Lecture Theatre 20.2

Sandra has tracked the growth of educational online role plays in Australian universities for 20 years and recently released an international book on role-based e-learning (Wills, Leigh & Ip, 2011). Online role plays are designed to increase understanding of real life human interaction and dynamics by placing learners in someone else's shoes or in someone else's situation. Sandra will showcase a number of examples of online and blended role plays being used in universities in Australia, UK and USA and discuss the challenges of design and implementaton.
